Founded in 2003, Basket of Hope is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Crawford, Cape Town. Managed by the dynamic husband and wife team, Michael and Christine Lakay, our home-based organization has been a steadfast force in the community, committed to making a real difference in the lives of those in need.

Well known for our relentless efforts, Basket of Hope has spent countless hours feeding and clothing children and adults in various informal settlements. Our soup kitchen services and sandwich drives at local educational facilities have become a lifeline for many, providing essential nourishment and support. We are solely dependent on donations from corporate institutions and caring individuals, which enable us to offer meals, clothing, and blankets to the homeless and underprivileged.

At the heart of our operation is Christine Lakay, whose passion and determination drive our mission forward every day. With the daily support of Michael and a dedicated team of eight staff members, we continue to grow and serve the community. Over the years, numerous corporate and small businesses have joined us in our journey, helping to fuel our progress with much-needed donations.
